Iris Kitchen Mural

In December 2022, I created a mural for my advertising agency, Iris Worldwide. The brief was open but the main criteria was that it had to be reflective of the 5 Iris values - commitment, collaboration, courage, storytelling and empathy and be an uplifting and insipring piece for people to look at every time they go into the kitchen.

My concept was to represent these values through mini stories, characters and our work culture, as well as including lots of little nods to iconic campaigns that we’ve produced as an agency.

The man at the top jumping over one of our slogans "Familiar is failure" represents courage, as he's taking risks through a leap of faith, which is important when stepping out of your comfort zone to produce great work. The Iris archive gallery wall behind him with frames of some of our most ambitious work emphasises this.

The two girls sharing binoculars represent empathy by showing that it's important to look through each others eyes to understand alternative perspectives.

The three girls passing the envelope symbolise collaboration. On the bottom left is the communication section where I highlighted our hybrid WFH policy, showing people having meetings through zoom and working in cafes, as well as yoga on the roof and our bi-weekly social pulse email.

The two people in the bottom right drawing embody storytelling as they draw out two of our biggest campaigns. And lastly the man watering the plant represents commitment by nurturing projects and creating ideas symbolised through the lightbulb flowers.

This has been my most complex piece to date and I’m really happy with how it turned out!
